With the intention of helping parents monitor and secure information for their children, the FBI has released its first iPhone app called Child ID. The app will let parents store basic information about their children on the said device. Information includes physical description of the child, photos, weight, height, and so on.

There’s no need to worry about security of information since the FBI assured that they won’t get the information stored on the iPhone. They will only have access to the information once a user/parent will forward the information to them.

Child ID is a great start for the authorities to take advantage of the popularity of iOS device and apps. There’s just one thing that this iPhone app needs to improve: you don’t have the option to set a password for the information of your child that you stored on your iPhone. This can be dangerous when the device falls into the wrong hands in case of theft or loss.
