Tomorrow, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department is showing off the new iris scanners that are available to deputies and the Boone County Jail.

Maj. Tom Reddin said in a news release that U.S. Democratic Rep. Ike Skelton will be in attendance to see how the Iris Biometric station works. The iris scan takes a photo of the eye and uses 240 identifiable points to create a profile.

The equipment was purchased through Department of Justice Cops Technology funding awarded to the Central Missouri Regional Justice Information Sharing Group. Reddin said Skelton was instrumental in the success of the project...
