"Google is working on a system that listens to what's on your TV playing in the background, and then serves you relevant adverts...

The idea appeared in Technology Review citing Peter Norvig, director of research at Google, who says these ideas will show up eventually in real Google products - sooner rather than later.

The idea is to use the existing PC microphone to listen to whatever is heard in the background, be it music, your phone going off or the TV turned down. The PC then identifies it, using fingerprinting, and then shows you relevant content, whether that's adverts or search results, or a chat room on the subject..."

Throw in the towel, people. If we don't stop this we're done for.

there will be no more privacy. they've already got a fix on our locations via gps enabled cell phones. tivo has been monitoring users and selling that info. now this google thing. mix in a little rfid. smile. you're on candid camera. then think about yr safeway/kroger/cvs cards. i wonder if all this information is being collated? duh. of course it is. hell, the big 911truth websites and organizations are probably black ops. it is so easy for the bad people to get all of our info and puppeteer us. it's like we're carp being grown in a pond. the caretaker feeds us little nuggets and we swim to him every time we see him. when he needs to, he scoops us out with a net. the bad people aren't stupid. we can hope that they are overreaching, though. thi is a scary world.
